Beached at Australian shores (reprise?)
So much to tell ... and still not enough time. Sorry for that. I think I have to take a whole day off in order to get this page a bit more up-to-date.
In brief: Yuki and I went back to Australia. This time it´s Sydney. At the moment we live in Kenneth Street, Tamarama, just between Bondi and Tamarama Beach. However, before you just come over and knock on my door, you should better give me a call. Everything is changing so quickly these days. For my phone number, etc., please check my contact details.
I currently work at Idatso, sharing my working hours and so with my big boss, Hans The German (they are everywhere), aka »That Huge Guy«.
Well, the latest news: I lost my long hair, I found some new glasses and currently I consider myself to be a non-smoker.
And I found some new dodgy t-shirts during our one-week stopover in Japan (if you care at all, see the picture on the right).
Of course there´s more, and of course that will have to wait once again. Sorry for that.
To be continued ...
Rapid-O-Mat
I updated my portfolio with my latest projects today.
Just online: the website for the yachting club »Ammerlander Segel-Club e.V.«. It comes with my all new content management system »Rapid-O-Mat« (PHP and MySQL), and a member login. It will still take some time for the authors to add content and for the whole site to get alive. I am looking forward to see it growing.
»Rapid-O-Mat« got a lot of improvements compared to my old content management system. It got more functionality, is more userfriendly, got less limitations, is easier to customize (which was the main reason for me to write it completely from scratch instead of just updating my existing system), and it finally got a name! I really want to update this homepage to the new system (once I got some time left). But that's gonna have to wait.
Portfolio
Just online: my portfolio with quite some works from recent years up to today. It also includes all my animations (well, those worth mentioning).
Go have a look!
(And don´t forget to pray that Shockwave Player and Quicktime are installed correctly on your machine.)
I´m a Devil´s Child!!!
Wow! What a perfect animation in just 20 seconds! »Karl Anton« by Thomas Meyer-Hermann which I found on Studio Film Bilder. A very very interesting site anyway. I don´t think I can resist to buy Phil Mulloys »Intolerance« trilogy.
Magister Nugob
Now comes to an end what started about four years ago: On Wednesday, September 22nd 2004, I had my final exam at uni, that is the presentation of my diploma thesis, it´s plea and the two courses »Human Machine Interface« and »Project Management«.
My diploma thesis is called »RALPH«. To be more precise, it is a »Manual for Character and Story Development with a Guideline for the Realization as Animation«. The bad news: it´s only in German. You can download RALPH in a printerfriendly version (low-res pictures only to keep the filesize at handy 1.3 MB).
That´s all for now, although I really have to update this page. So much happened: What about the wedding of Yuki and me? My holiday in Tokyo? My latest animation? My conclusion of four years of studies in Austria and Australia? What will happen next? All those questions will be answered soon, but I don´t have the time right now.
Stay tuned.
My Spoon is Too Big.
Have a look at bitterfilms, the website of animator Don Hertzfeldt. I saw the films "Billy´s Balloon" and "Rejected" some time ago. Amazingly funny stuff. Very inspiring. And I really love that stickfigure style. It doesn´t need more. The stories are pretty much not on that deep and meaningful side. Which is great. To say it in Felix´ words: »Get rid of that little voice saying that you are so smart. Be dumb!«
Hafenbüffet
Once again Café Imperial and The Robbery were screened. Once again it was part of the digital sushi program which took place in the Hafenbüffet in Rorschach, Switzerland, on Friday, March 12.
Anyway, the Hafenbüffet is really worth to keep an eye on: concerts, films, theatre, readings, art, etc. in a nice athmosphere.
